some's got it

when i posted this week's sunday six, i had no idea that this shirt would show up on kendi's site this week! imagine my delight!  can you?! i feel like finding this shirt there totally redeems me.  it is repayment for the years the locusts have eaten in terms of bad fashion choices in the early 90s.  i'm back on top!

The Sunday Six: Edition SALES

okay so this week is all about the SALES!  somehow looking at lower prices makes me feel better, even if i can't actually ADD TO CART if you know what i'm say'n.

the silk blythe blouse
i blame kendi for making me even LOOK at button down shirts.  dangit though, she makes them look so stylish!  and comfortable even!  and now i want them.
//j.crew [comes in navy and a pretty green, too]
on a completely unrelated note, if i ever have another daughter, i'd like to name her blythe.  i just have fallen right over the cliff in love with that name and i hope i get the chance to use it.
i mean... i think i do.
unless i definitely, definitely don't.
and most of the time i really can't tell the difference.
so, blythe.  blythe johanna.  in case you were wondering about the middle.

you probably weren't. (were you?)

the silk peplum blouse
do people say blouse (blouze) anymore? (holly, don't answer that.)
these post script pants
not since the early 90s have i really loved colored pants.  well, back then it was more jeans than pants.  my favorite pair belonged to a friend of mine so i borrowed them just as often as i could... which by my estimation was not nearly oft enough.  my covetousness was strong.  they were dark purple girbaud's (remember them?) and they felt like velvet i tell ya!  i found that pairing them with either a peach shirt or a teal shirt, both silk (not very much different than the blythe blouse above) made me feel the most beautiful. that outfit was a show stopper.  you know it was. i probably wouldn't wear a teal, silk blouse with these.
//anthropologie $40
peasant blouse
it's on sale which makes it cheapER, but it's still an unpeasant-like price, which i continue to find unpLeasant. pretty shirt though, don't ya think?
yo mama jokes
no no, seriously.  those are the best.
and look what i found!
this is like the yo mama joke in reverse.  it's called yo mama so extraordinary
no really, if you love me at all... my birthday is in october.

here's an excerpt:

yo mama so quirky,
her random pluralization of
brand names always makes me smile.
next time you see her, tell her i said,
"go to best buys" and pick up a "sony's".
she'll know what i'm talking about.

and another:

yo mama so traditional
she thought tupac shakur
was a jewish holiday.
it was really cute.

maybe you noticed that i didn't add a quote this week.  i feel the yo mama stuff to be a more than sufficient stand-in.  that's some good stuff righ' dere.

my tiny puddin's birthday

this year, his spiderman suit and cleats have been his uniform.
reason #438 why he is awesome.

today he is four.
all day long he's 'shirsty' and when he's tired he always wants a cup of juice and his 'thomas', which is nothing more than a tattered fleece thomas the train blanket with mange.  his favorite way of loving it is plucking off the fuzz and rolling it around between his tiny fingers.  that blanket is his velveteen rabbit.
nearly every night he climbs in our bed and curls up on my pillow.  i wouldn't kick him out for all the caftans in the world.
i silently rub his little head and he says, 'i love you, too', between sips from his cup.
he's so cute and cuddly he makes me think about having another one...  so cute he warps my mind and makes me think crazy things.

well, that's all folks.

delta bravo, OUT!

"When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be."

this quote ties right in with the quote i posted on facebook earlier today.

if we let ourselves, we shall always be waiting for some distraction or other to end before we can really get down to our work... favorable conditions never come.
CS Lewis
look at that poor, sad little thing with the black eye.
even when holding on is kicking your ass, it's still hard to let go.
the thing you're holding is wounding you, has wounded you for years, and still there's a great fear.  you don't know how to live without it.  you're unsure of how to go about unfurling your fingers, and you're wary of hope.  but you've decided you're not gonna lay down here and die, and you decide that maybe hope deserves a chance... that there is better, and you can have it, if you just let go of this.

The Sunday Six: Edition 33

if you're thinking i forgot about the sunday six this week, you are correct my young grasshoppa.  today snuck up (sneaked up?) on me.  It snuck me is what it did.
if you wondering what i mean by that, let me school you in the ways of urban vocabulary.

punch.to get suckapunched.unexpected punch

for example, 'corey was hatin' on me, so i caught him in tha hood an' snuck that fool.'
so yeah, sunday snuck me. or more exactly, the sunday six snuck me.
okay, so here we go.
this bag
no really. have you ever seen a bag that was more FALL?  i die.  anthropologie is so cruel though unto my very soul.  they tease me with all their "I am SO cool! I am SO lovely"!
I know you are!  why, why must you be so expensive?  and then i cry.... waaahhhhhhh
sett & reset tote

and now i'm asking myself, have i already posted this? i'm too lazy to peruse earlier posts.  here's the deal though, i don't really care.  if i posted it twice, it's because it is so cool that it should be dually noted.  so there, dually noted.  (i think.)(unless i'm wrong and it's only singularly noted.)(in which case, i reserve the right to post it again in the future.)(so as to make it a dual notation.)
improved vision
i spent the better part of this week at a homeschool conference doing just that and i feel incredibly refreshed and re-energized (energized again)(hah-lay-loo-juh) toward that endeavor.  i know no one can identify with this, but sometimes i grow weary of mothering. i need constant messages of assurance, repeated messages that i can RELAX.
the color red
i love the color red.  red is rad. iiiiii like it.
pillsbury pizza crust
this stuff is really good.  it somehow manages to be perfectly crispy and yet still perfectly soft.  i've eaten it several times in a day and still not grown sick of it.  that's a sign of greatness.
sometimes you need a break and when you get one it feels so good.
i love that.

these words
...are part of what helped me to set my eyes a-right this week.

"Children are souls to be nurtured,
not products to be measured."
(relax.  enjoy your children. show some teeth.)
(you know, smile.)
The goal, at the end of it all is that they love to learn and they love Jesus.
sometimes i just really need to be reminded of the big picture.

okay people, hope your weekend was grand!
also, i don't know what is happening with the font sizing in this post.  please to be excusing, yes? thank you.

The Sunday Six: Edition 32

cool stuffies
...with strong love specifically for this here unicorn and that there (fantastic mr.) fox.
(of course)
//both hail from desaccord and can be yours for several, several shillings
color palette generator
did you hear what i just said?
i said color palette gen-er-ay-tor.
i came across this nifty gifty this week and was choking for air.  the awesomeness took the breath right out of my lungs.  for someone who likes to play with colors periodically, on their blog mayhaps (me!) this is pure sunshine.  here's how it works.
thanking you profusely creature comforts for showin' us how it's done and tellin' the world about it.  thank you palette creators, for makin' my day all shiny and happy! i am most exceedingly obliged.
coffee mugs
don't ya just love mugs?
cheesy ones.
pretty ones.
fancy ones.
cute ones.
i love them.
i've been wanting more.  i have a shortage when company comes.  i like these.  i know they're not a set, but i'm not really a "set" kinda girl.
 owl  love //modcloth
panda love //modcloth

garden plait mug //anthropologie  -- they called that braid a plait.  how can i not have a crush on anthropologie?

oresund mug //anthropologie  -- hearts!
new school supplies
and it's that time!
not that i'm ready for school to start up again.  i am not.  but i've always always loved the new supplies.
  they're so promising!

(if you don't know me by now, you will nevah nevah nevah know me...)
i've just decided, like, this very minute, that i will now be  adding favorite word groupings as one of my six each week.  i come across so many that make me clutch at my heart, and they are certainly deserving of their day in the sun.
this week is about creativity, and how to get you some (and hold it and love it).
4. somebody is definitely spying on me.
7 + 9. psh, i'm practically an expert.
15. (and listen)
27. why is this one the most exciting?
31 + 33.  this list got jokes.

i am in a season where i deserve little which is why i need so much.

reminds me again of that bob dylan quote:
"i was born very far from where i am meant to be, and i am on my way home."
bob always did have a way with the words.  thanks bob.  you're a peach.

okay me hearties, you have a lovely day now.
 love you all.

The Sunday Six: Edition 31

leave it to anthropologie to make me fall in love with something i never knew existed.  i looked it up though and learned that it's basically a robe. i am DOWN with robes, particularly ones that make me look all fancy and dooded (duded?) up. (not the kind you usually see adorning the folks of wal-mart.)
bring on the caftans, i say.  i'll be the caftan captain.
aye aye cap'itain!
geo stripe caftan //anthropologie

know that point you reach with a project where you just know this thing is dead in the water?  lifeless.  finito.  kaput.  when your bathroom has been half-painted + used as a canvas (with red nail polish and mascara as the chosen medium) and you go in/out of that room innumerable times per day (because you only have the one) but still have managed to not correctify these glaring problems for over a year (even after hosting a few holidays in your home), that my friends, is two things:
(1)ghetto fabulous
(2)dead in the water

when i laid eyes on this photo though, my heart leapt within me.  it was as if it spoke to the dead bathroom part of me and said, "Lazarus!  Come forth!"
//chalkboard walls!! in the bathroom!!
who knows how long it'll take us to actually do it, but at least i know this.
i know where i'm going with it.
i have direction, people. direction!
chalkboard paint in the bathroom is brilliant unto me, especially since the children insist on using it as an art room  (and also because i've wanted a chalkboard wall for a coon's age anyway).  it's the obvious choice, nay?  (of course i'll show before + afters)(unless, of course, i'm just making empty promises again)(it is election year)
(also, i'm bringing back "coon's age".  it's the right thing to do.)
peasant tops
i only wish they were priced for peasants. everybody knows peasants are broke.
anyway, the tops, they look so airy and friendly.
"friendly?" what you talkin' 'bout, willis?
well, they look nice, like they won't try and smother me.  clothes can be very violent in the summertime.  not these, though.  i can see that these are placid and friendly-like. i want them all.
lunar cycle top //anthropologie
lucerne peasant top //anthropologie
ensnared peasant top //anthropologie
pretty dresses
  i really do love 'em.
aren't they great?
topology dress //anthropologie
collecting dots dress //anthropologie
birch tree dress //anthropologie
neutral shoes
if i were interviewing neutral shoes, these would get the job.
they have all the qualities i'm looking for in a neutral shoe:
t-straps, chunky heels, feminine.
you're hired!
actually, you're not.  budget cuts and all. sorry.
chameleon heels //anthropologie
i'll probably frame it and mount it.
that's fine art, people.  i have an eye for these things.

and that's all she wrote!
happy sunday, y'all!
hope you enjoy your long weekend.
go forth and pop some firecrackers!
